"I Didn't Want Parents to Suffer Like I Did..."
What to Expect
I want to make the world aware of two amazing people we lost last week. Sarah and I happened to have an interview scheduled for a future release this year over on @teamonlocation but when we learned of the devastating news Sarah asked that we get the full 1 hour 25 min glimpse into their life out as soon as possible for the world to see... and that's what we did. It would mean a lot if you could take some time to listen and watch Feda and Mu - https://on-location.mykajabi.com/offers/EzCzMPkq
Title: What About Parents? A Quest to Bring Awareness to Parents of Children with Severe Autism
About: The COVID-19 pandemic has upended life for everyone. But it has affected families with children who are severely impacted by autism even more than most. Feda Almaliti welcomed us into her home to spend time with her and her son, Muhammed, to provide the world with a first-hand account of what it's really like to parent a child with severe autism during a pandemic.
Feda Almaliti was a tireless advocate for parents of children on the autism spectrum. This was especially true for parents of children who are severely impacted by autism, like Feda's son Mohammed (Mu). Feda was one of the first parents in California to sue (and win) ABA treatment for Mu. She was integral in the passage of SB 946, California's Autism Health Insurance Mandate. Feda's energy was infectious. She was able to make friends with literally ANYONE; even the grumpiest of legislators. Feda used her voice and her platform to bring attention to the plight of parents like her and, most importantly, to galvanize change. Feda spent her life ensuring that Mu could live his best life. She wanted nothing more than for Mu, and other people like him, to live in a world where they were valued and accepted.

About
Hey, I'm Ryan. I usually go by Ryan O or RYANO. I hail from northern Nevada in the grungy, yet surprisingly classy, (and newly renovated) Reno, Nevada. I like my climate like I like my data: evolving, uncompromising, and progressive. I am a master of science; that is, I have an M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis, however, my interests have grown to include many other interests, including entrepreneurship and capturing perspectives and stories through various mediums. These interests and skills have allowed me to work with a lot of great people. I've started three businesses, started numerous active joint venture agreements, a behavioral think-tank, a podcast, a professional development movement, helped organizations that support people with Intellectual Disabilities, to list a few. Currently, I lead product development and distribution for High Sierra Industries as a Learning Systems Development Specialist. I focus outside this role on building a community of thought leaders and doers to create content that increases the transparency of behavior analytic technologies with the hopes of creating a platform that truly saves the world. My interests are all over, from artificial intelligence and machine learning applications to the theory and philosophy behind Why We Do What We Do (wwdwwdpodcast.com). In my spare time you can find me consuming social media, prepping/climbing a giant mountain, or walking around with my camera in my hand (and, occasionally, all simultaneously). Connect with me personally on most all social platforms via @TheDailyBA and let me know what drives you to pursue the Behavior Analysis vision.
